Neurologic & Vestibular Physical Therapy in Birmingham, Alabama
Private pay care built for the intensity, frequency, and duration the research says it actually takes to recovery so your care is dosed by the research, not by your insurance benefits.
We Treat Neurologic Conditions. Only Neurologic Conditions.
Neuroactive is a team of neurologic specialists, including board-certified Neurologic Clinical Specialists (NCS) who treat neurologic and vestibular conditions exclusively. Every session is a full hour, one-on-one, built around what you're actually trying to get back to — and dosed at the intensity and repetition the research says it takes to drive neuroplasticity.
Because we're private pay, we're not bound by visit caps or authorization limits. That means most of our clients use us alongside their insurance-covered therapy, not instead of it: their benefited visits handle what they handle, and we add the frequency, intensity, and neuro-specific expertise that a traditional caseload can't accommodate. When those benefits run out, we're already in place and the progress doesn't stop.

What makes Neuroactive UNIQUE?
-
Flexibility
Most sessions happen in our accessible, centrally located clinic in Hoover, equipped for the intensity and variety that drives real neurologic recovery. But therapy doesn't only belong in a clinic. When it makes sense for your goals, we come to you — in your home, or out in the places you actually navigate: the grocery store, the pool, the golf course, a hiking trail. You get the equipment when you need it and the real world when that's what will move you forward.
-
Specialization
We don’t treat people with orthopedic problems or other issues most PT clinics address. Our therapists are neurologic specialists — including Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialists (NCS) — and we treat neurologic diagnoses exclusively. We are laser focused and skilled at addressing issues related to neurological disorders.
-
Dedication
Neuroactive is a small practice. We are not seeing 20 patients a day, scattered, and burnt out. We are doing things different than the traditional outpatient PT model so that we can be a part of each patient’s team, in their corner, and dedicated to getting them better. When you are part of our client base, we are committed to helping you meet your mobility goals.
-
Value
A session with Neuroactive is, at minimum, a full hour of intense, research-based, individualized therapy or wellness visits. There are no distractions from you. You, your goals, and your progress have our whole, undivided attention throughout your whole visit. And if you would benefit from a longer session, we do that. No insurance restrictions means we can do what is best for you and your recovery.
-
Focus
Your goals are the goals we will work towards. We will take time to listen. We want to know what motivates you, what you are struggling with, and what you want to get back to doing. That way we can tailor your treatment to what matters to you. We are passionate about exploring all avenues to give you the best results possible.
Treatment focusing on:
-
Walking
Gait training to make it safer, more efficient, and easier to walk from point A to point B.

-
Exercise
Effective exercise that is challenging and targeted at getting you to your goals. We strive to make sure intensity matches what research says will help you recover, prevent further deterioration, and improve your function and overall health.

-
Balance Training
We use evidence based training to improve your balance, decrease your fall risk, and make you feel more confident in your mobility.

-
Mobility
We train you and your family in the basics of moving better and safer within your environment. This includes transfers of all kinds (getting in and out of the car, on and off the floor, on and off the toilet, or even on and off your favorite recliner), negotiating stairs, moving in bed, or any other task of moving your body through the day.

-
Education
Having a new neurological condition can change a lot of things about how you live your life and your health. We help you understand the new ways your body functions and empower you with the knowledge of how to recover, adapt, and prevent further issues.

-
Wheelchair Prescription and Seating Needs
We have experience prescribing manual and power wheelchairs to meet your mobility needs. This includes submitting justification on to your insurance provider. We also can ensure your current seating system is meeting your mobility and positioning needs.
