Physical Therapy

A different approach to physical therapy

  • Individualized physical therapy sessions customized to maximize neurological recovery and meet your goals.

    • We focus on research based treatment interventions.

    • We listen to and focus on what is important to YOU.

  • Truly specialized therapy delivered by therapists who only treats those with neurological disorders.

  • Convenient care that comes to you. Most sessions occur in your own home. This allows us to solve real time problems without simulation and eliminates hassle for you. And when and if you choose, therapy can take place in any other location of your choosing: the park, your favorite hiking trial, your fitness center, the grocery store, any place you want to be active!

PT that meets your needs, not the needs of your insurance company

  • Neuroactive does not participate in billing insurance with the only exception being Medicare Part B. For more information on therapy provided to Medicare Part B beneficiaries, click here.

  • We encourage you to use your benefits but what we offer is something more than traditional therapy.

    • We can provide therapy at the same time as traditional insurance based therapy to give you more frequent therapy, solve mobility problems in the home that cannot be solved in a clinic, or provide more specialized treatment.

    • We can provide therapy after your insurance benefits have been used when you feel you still have goals to meet.

    • We can provide therapy in the community to help you get back to real life. Insurance companies care about basic function in your home. We care that you can get back to the things you love.

Treatment focusing on:

  • Walking

Gait training to make it safer, more efficient, and easier to walk from point A to point B.

  • Exercise

Effective exercise that is challenging and targeted at getting you to your goals. We strive to make sure intensity matches what research says will help you recover, prevent further deterioration, and improve your function and overall heath.

  • Balance Training

We use evidence based training to improve your balance, decrease your fall risk, and make you feel more confident in your mobility.

  • Mobility

We train you and your family in the basics of moving better and safer within your environment. This includes transfers of all kinds (getting in and out of the car, on and off the floor, on and off the toilet, or even on and off your favorite recliner), negotiating stairs, moving in bed, or any other task of moving your body through the day.

  • Education

Having a new neurological condition can change a lot of things about how you live your life and your health. We help you understand the new ways your body functions and empower you with the knowledge of how to recover, adapt, and prevent further issues.

  • Wheelchair Prescription and Seating Needs

We have experience prescribing manual and power wheelchairs to meet your mobility needs. This includes submitting justification on to your insurance provider. We also can ensure your current seating system is meeting your mobility and positioning needs.

FAQs

Do you accept my insurance?

Neuroactive Therapy and Wellness LLC is a private pay practice. As such, Neuroactive is out of network with all insurance providers and does not participate in billing insurance providers. You are responsible for the full cost of treatment at time of service.

The only exception to this is Medicare Part B. Neuroactive is in network with traditional Medicare Part B and will bill to this provider only. For more information on therapy for Medicare beneficiaries, click here.

Neuroactive does, however, provide you with a “superbill” which is a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out of network reimbursement or application of your costs to your out of network deductible. Neuroactive is not responsible for any part of submitting to insurance providers for out of network coverage other than providing you with documentation.

Why are you out of network?

Neuroactive does not bill through insurance in order to focus full efforts on providing the best care possible without the restrictions and stipulations put in place by insurance companies. We believe your care should be determined by your needs and what the research says will lead to the best results, not by what a third party insurance company decides they do or do not want to pay for. We work with you on developing a plan of care for frequency and duration of treatment that works for you and gets you to your goals as fast as possible.

Whis is the cost of treatment?

The first visit is an evaluation in which we will review your medical history, home setup, goals, and personal factors, perform a throughout analysis of any deficits, impairments, or functional limitations, and develop a plan for treatment with your input. This session is 60-90 minutes and costs $200.

After the first session each treatment session is time based with most sessions being one hour (however sessions can be longer if that meets your needs). Treatments cost $150 per hour.

If a custom seating and positioning evaluation to prescribe a specialty wheelchair is required, this costs $250. This is performed in conjunction with a wheelchair vendor, includes you getting to demo the recommended equipment, and carefully evaluating your needs. The vendor will work with submitting to your insurance provider for coverage of the wheelchair and we will provide a full evaluation that can be submitted to your insurance provider for covering your wheelchair.

Do I need a prescription?

In Alabama, a prescription/referral from a physician is not required for cash pay physical therapy services.

If using Medicare Part B benefits, a physician referral and approval of POC is required.

It is also recommended to have a physician referral if you are interested in pursuing reimbursement through out of network benefits as this is a common requirement for third party insurers.

Do I need to have equipment?

No. We will bring any needed equipment except durable medical equipment (such as walkers, wheelchairs, etc). If you need these type of items, we can assist you in the process of obtaining them. We also strive to make your treatment functional and meaningful to your life so we mainly use things in your own environment. For wellness services, we bring needed exercise equipment but may make suggestions for things you may want to purchase to continue your exercise program.
